The ISHGR membership is tied to the subscription of the Hunter Gatherer Research Journal and is all manged by the Liverpool University Press (LUP).
As of 2026, the HGR journal subscription includes 2 issues per year (standard subscription online access from 2015 and Before Farming from 2002)
To become an individual ISHGR member and a subscriber of the HGR journal, the current fees are (as of 2026):
- Regular member: £42 / US$68
- Student/concession member: £21 / US$34
- Low-middle income countries regular member: £21 / US$34
- Low-middle income countries student/concession member: £17.50
- 3 year regular membership: £83 / US$109
- 3 year student/concession membership: £62 / US$73
- 3 year low-middle income countries member: £62
